Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage (Japanese: 色彩を持たない多崎つくると、彼の巡礼の年, Hepburn: Shikisai o motanai Tazaki Tsukuru to, kare no junrei no toshi) is the thirteenth novel by Japanese writer Haruki Murakami. Published on 12 April 2013 in Japan, it sold one million copies in one month.The novel is a realist Bildungsroman that tells the story of Japanese railroad engineer Tsukuru Tazaki. When his close-knit group of friends abruptly cuts all relationships with him, a young Tsukuru is left depressed and without answers. Years later, Tsukuru attempts to reconcile with his old friends, embarking on a quest for truth and a pilgrimage for happiness. The English-language edition, translated by Philip Gabriel, was released worldwide on 12 August 2014.
