La Serbia (in serbo Србија?), ufficialmente Repubblica di Serbia (in serbo Република Србија?, Republika Srbija), è uno Stato dell'Europa sudorientale senza sbocco sul mare, compreso tra il bassopiano pannonico e la penisola balcanica. Confina con l'Ungheria, la Romania, la Bulgaria, la Macedonia del Nord, il Montenegro, la Bosnia ed Erzegovina, de facto il Kosovo e la Croazia, conta circa 7 milioni di abitanti e la sua capitale è Belgrado. La Repubblica di Serbia fu parte della Jugoslavia fino al 1992, successivamente ridotta alla sola unione statale di Serbia e Montenegro, ma, in seguito al referendum del 21 maggio 2006, il Montenegro ha votato per l'indipendenza, la federazione è stata sciolta e la Serbia (così come il Montenegro) è divenuta uno Stato sovrano.
