The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window

The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window is the second and last staged play by playwright Lorraine Hansberry, author of A Raisin in the Sun. The play focuses on events that occur after Sidney hangs a political sign urging the end to bossism in the window of his Greenwich Village apartment. Chaos ensues in his marriage and personal relationships and raises questions about Bohemian culture, Judaism, race, suicide, homosexuality, political corruption, interracial love, and prostitution. The play premiered October 15, 1964 and received mixed reviews. Hansberry, who was ill at the time, died before the end of its run. The original production starred Gabriel Dell and Rita Moreno as Sidney and Iris Brustein respectively. The play was revived on Broadway in 1972 and 2023. Source: Wikipedia (en)
