Bangor University (Welsh: Prifysgol Bangor) is a public research university in Bangor, Wales. It received its Royal Charter in 1885 and was one of the founding institutions of the federal University of Wales. Formerly known as the University College of North Wales (UCNW; Welsh: Coleg Prifysgol Gogledd Cymru), and later the University of Wales, Bangor (UWB; Welsh: Prifysgol Cymru, Bangor), it adopted its current name in 2007, as it became independent from the University of Wales. It has over 9,000 students across 3 academic colleges and 11 schools. Its campus makes up a large part of Bangor, and extends to nearby Menai Bridge as well. It has a second campus in Wrexham, primarily for healthcare courses. Source: Wikipedia (en)
