I have read the description of that book after it was announced ("Gender swapped Sherlock Holmes novel…") and whatever I expected from that (I'm not sure exactly what :)), it was completely different. And that's very good. Aliette de Bodard manages to surprise me (as she generally does) even though I'm not a great fan of SH :)<br/><br/>The sentient ship idea is one of the main idea in the Xuya universe and I like it.<br/><br/>Read it, it is very good.
